Assessment and testing
Visual inspection and, where appropriate, sampling by an independent party.
Containment
The work area sealed off so spores are not distributed through the house.
Negative air and filtration
HEPA filtration and negative pressure maintained while the work is open.
Removal of affected material
Porous material that cannot be cleaned is cut out and bagged rather than treated.
Cleaning and HEPA vacuuming
Remaining surfaces cleaned and vacuumed with HEPA equipment.
Drying
The area dried to a measured target before anything is closed up.
Rebuild
Framing, insulation, drywall and finishes restored once the area is clear and dry.
Post-remediation verification
Independent clearance arranged where the situation calls for it.
